Debate: “European Participatory Democracy in Action: Citizens' Initiative” 

The Department of International Relations and European Integration (DIREI) and the Academic Club of European Studies (ACES) organized on 11 April 2012 a round table entitled: “European Participatory Democracy in Action: Citizens' Initiative”. 

The debate was moderated by PhD. University Professor Mr. Iordan Gheorghe Bărbulescu, president of the NSPSPA Senate and Dean of the Department of International Relations and European Integration, with the participation of other guests from the academic field. 

Considering that on 1st April, first citizens' initiatives were launched, the round table focused on key aspects regarding this new instrument introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon, highlighting the implications of this Initiative in setting the EU political agenda by citizens and civil society.
